July 25th, 2019 NAUGATUCK PD CALL ACTIVITY REPORT
Good Thursday Everyone …
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sergeant Burns took this video of turkeys crossing the bottom
of Horton Hill Road by New Haven Road yesterday. Maybe they know that
turkey hunting season is over? ?????????? Connecticut State
Environmental Conservation Police
????????
Today
the Naugatuck PD will see the retirement of yet another longtime
officer
… it is always bitter-sweet when a senior officer retires, on the one
hand we are happy that the retiring officers are moving on and can say
that they made it safely and successfully served through the years – it
becomes a big loss of training and experience…
This is especially the case today - the final work day for Detective
Lieutenant Ronald Hunt …. Det. Lieutenant Hunt is a lifelong resident of
the Borough… he is the son of Retired NPD Deputy Chief Thomas “Bitsy”
Hunt and brother of NPD Captain Steven Hunt …..
…and while Det. Lt. Hunt is not the tallest officer to ever work at the
NPD (… he narrowly edges out several officers by at least ¼ inch…) he
is a fountain of knowledge and experience….
… For example …. Det. Lt. Hunt knows THE best time to run out and get
lunch … 12:00 every day without even looking at a clock ….
…He has also led the charge on physical fitness … living by the motto
“if I can do it – ANYONE can do it … Det. Lt. Ron Hunt mastered the
“High Jump” (…as displayed in the attached video…) … please note that
this vertical jump is no easy task for someone of his size and stature
…. For years he worked at mastering this jump so he could drive
departmental SUVs … he finally achieved it earlier this fall…quite an
accomplishment for a vertically challenged senior officer …..
… Seriously though … Det. Lt. Ron Hunt has worked almost every
assignment an officer can work during his career … Upon starting his 22
plus year NPD career on 10/3 of 1995 he worked Patrol, was then assigned
to the State Wide MV Theft Division … He was promoted to Detective and
then upon being promoted to Sergeant he was assigned to all shifts of
patrol ….he then returned to the Detective bureau as the Det. Sergeant …
He was promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant and again returned to the
patrol division where he commanded both the midnight and day shifts
before being assigned to his current position of Det. Lieutenant as the
Detective Division commander….
The NPD has lost several well known seasoned, experienced and respected
officers during 2017 …. And it certainly will end with one of the best
walking out again today! …
On behalf of all the men and women of the Naugatuck PD, we would like to
thank Detective Lieutenant Ronald Hunt for his service to the Borough
of Naugatuck and wish him the best of luck, health and happiness as he
moves to the next chapter of his life …
